Jonathan Page

At the age of eight Jonathan Page came out of a pottery class and knew that he wanted to do for the rest of his life.    The underlying mathematical correlations that have been used to configure and build works of art in the past have undoubtably been inspirational to him.     Although he does not pretend to follow too closely a calculated structure or design behind each piece to give it harmony, he does not underestimate the significance that those studies have had on his sculptures.
His current work is driven by a desire to create objects of beauty, balance and harmony.   The forms are designed to capture the essence of particular characteristics he admires in the natural world.     The vessels symbolize the natural sense of pride with courtship rituals in the animal kingdom, with particular reference to birds.    The bulls' heads are inspired by Cape Buffalo and are intended to represent strength.
